Gogo with Crystal and Samantha Cashmore
aka The Candy Explosion
April 2010
So, last night I was all set to paint silver angels on the hood of the new car,
but the big theatre opened up to us for a video shoot.
I have made 10 or 20 different recordings of the Butterfly Song, and they are not all
very good.........well, one was, and it was ‘cos Crystal Cashmore sang it, rather than me.....
I like this song a lot, it has a big diminished chord, like George Harrison always had,
and a nice high vocal like Chilliwack does....but I think it is its own thing.
So we pulled out the 9' Steinway grand piano and I wore my best purple jacket.
It was my huge idea to have the camera walk around the piano, and we did about
5 takes....each one lowering the stage lights a bit so the whole thing
didn't white out....as it was........
Then we took some promo shots, and neither the video nor the promo
got any touch-ups at all. I like the idea of a song with no edits like this.
I think it is actually kinda radical in this age when most acts lip-sync on stage.
So this is the perfect act: if you play a theatre, the piano is already there,
I just have to bring a decent jacket and keep the snacks off of the Steinway.
The video shoot went really well, nobody freaked out, except for me when I heard
how good the camera mic was. I thought I would drown the girls out, but I just played
not too thumpy, and the girls aways faced the camera.
Ok I am having fun, hope you are too.....have 2 salmon in the oven here
and I think they are pretty happy too..........and the rice is ready.............................
thank you!
love,
gogo
