Gogo, Crystal and Samantha Cashmore!
The Candy Explosion is an electrifying confection of opera and pop music brought forth by this eclectic Vancouver Island trio. Their first single, The Butterfly Song, was produced by Trooper keyboardist, Gogo, who also contributed his multi-instrumental talents to the luminous vocals of sisters, Samantha and Crystal Cashmore.
Gogo, a veteran of the Vancouver rock scene, was a celebrity judge for Nanaimo Idol in 2006, when he first heard the operatically-trained voice of Crystal Cashmore. After winning that title, Crystal and her sister, Samantha teamed up with Gogo to explore the collectiveness of their combined musical sensibilities. This collaboration has resulted in a fresh pop innocence infused with a hint of classical electronica to create an airy, uncluttered resonance. The crisp vocal harmonies captures an energetic spirit of youth in all ages.
Crystal Cashmore has been singing professionally since the age of 5, and has won numerous competitions. Her classically-trained sister, Samantha, has also been gracing stages since early childhood, and is currently pursuing studies in musical theatre. Both sisters have been favourite vocalists at Canadian sporting events. Gogo, no stranger to the British Columbia rock music stage, has brought his usual array of music-making skills to this effort. In addition to his audio/video production and engineering capabilities, Gogo also penned this composition, and performed keyboards and violin on the track.
The Butterfly Song is a radio-friendly delight that will soon have the nation humming along.
